ABOUT MUAY THAI + KICKBOXING

Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing, and kickboxing are applicable martial arts that create well-rounded fighters.  The history of Muay Thai can be traced to the middle 18th century when the famous fighter Nai Khanomtom was captured in the year 1767.  The Burmese knew of his expertise in hand-to-hand combat and gave him the opportunity to fight for his freedom.  Nai Khanomtom’s winning match set him free and set up the evolution of contemporary Muay Thai and kickboxing. The sport engages stand-up and striking techniques along with various clinching techniques that have proven effective: Muy Thai became widespread internationally in the twentieth century when practitioners defeated notable opponents trained in other martial arts.
